In 2022, the GNC hosted Active Witnessing Training virtual workshops facilitated by Angela Ma Brown.
The sessions were held over 2-days and covered anti-racism education, whiteness and white-supremacy culture, and active witnessing. The workshops engaged participants in courageous conversations, experiential learning, and empathy building to unpack and respond to the harmful impacts of prejudice, discrimination, racism, and oppression.
We learned many useful new ideas and ways of thinking during these workshops. One powerful idea that stuck with us was the possibility of using the term "occupier" instead of "settler" in order to give more weight to the uncomfortable truths of coloniality.
