The Taste of Culture project brought diverse community members together to share recipes, stories, and lived experiences in a welcoming community kitchen. Through cooking and conversation, participants created meaningful connections while preparing dishes that reflected their cultures, traditions, and personal histories.
These dishes were later shared with the wider community in a celebration of culture. The event centred on food, storytelling, and coming together. The project highlighted both the richness of our community and the diversity we share in common.
More than a collection of recipes, this book is the story of that shared journey. It captures a moment in time and offers a glimpse into the people who generously contributed their time, effort, and talent. Each recipe reflects not only a dish, but also a connection—to family, culture, and community.
Rooted in the Good Neighbours Committee’s broader work on diversity and inclusion, Taste of Culture also reflects a commitment to building relationships across difference. By sharing food and stories, participants created space for understanding, respect, and community belonging.
This recipe book continues that work. It invites readers to explore new flavours, learn from one another, and carry these traditions forward into their own kitchens and communities.
